FARMINGTON — Abdullah Alkhayyat's (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) unassisted goal in the 11th minute was all of the offense Maine Maritime needed to defeat Maine-Farmington in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener for both teams.

Alkhayyat's goal was his third of the season and his second game-winner in 2011. William Trace Lacour (Charlottesville, Va.) came up with three saves to preserve the Mariners (4-1-1, 1-0 NAC) 1-0 shutout of the Beavers (2-2, 0-1 NAC).The MMA whitewashing marks the fourth of the season for the Mariners.

Derek Riley stopped one of MMA's four shots in the game.  Farmington launched 11 shots at the MMA net to no avail.
