BAR HARBOR — Reel Pizza and First Light Film Society are hosting a best-of-the-fest selection of 25 films from the Maine International Film Festival in an event they’ve dubbed “MIFF-by-the-Sea” over the weekend of Sept 16 through 19.

This year’s collection of movies includes full-length features, documentaries, and short films – both live-action and animated – and will be shown at afternoon matinees, evening screenings and late-night special events.

An opening reception will be catered by Sassafrass Catering and Atlantic Brewing Co/Bar Harbor Cellars, and there will be a closing party at the Lompoc Café. Several filmmakers will be attending the festival to present their work; and an afternoon falconry demonstration is being organized in connection with one of the films.
