BAR HARBOR — Bar Harbor residents Britt Hulbert-Sosa, Julie Hill-Warner, Tim Haberern, and Derek Hayes, competed in the Lake Placid Ironman on Sunday.

The Lake Placid competition is the second oldest Ironman in North America. It hosts a unique course with the transition and finish line located on the Olympic Speed skating oval, a swim in Mirror Lake, and a challenging bike through the Adirondacks. It is an ultra-distance triathlon consisting of a 2.4-mile swim, 112- mile bike, and a 26.2-mile run. Twenty-five-year-old Haberern placed high enough to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii on October 8.
