WALTHAM — Fire destroyed a camp on Little Webb Pond early Thursday evening, Waltham Fire Chief Bill Butler reported.
Butler said the department got a report of an explosion around 5:20 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown, Butler said.
“The camp was pretty much burned up” by the time firefighters arrived, he said. The department was on the scene until 8 p.m. and there were concerns about making sure no forest fire started with the strong winds, the chief said.
No one was home at the time.
“In fact we’re still trying to locate the camp owner,” Butler said.
The Eastbrook and Osborn fire departments provided mutual aid.
