BUCKSPORT — The 36th annual Tour du Lac 10-mile road race will be held Saturday with a 7:30 a.m. start at the Bucksport swimming pool.
Proceeds from the race, sponsored by Rosen’s in Bucksport, will be shared by the Anne Norton Scholarship Fund at Bucksport High School and the Sub5 Scholarship Fund.
A potluck lunch for race participants will be held at the Clapper residence, located near mile marker one, after the post-race awards ceremony.
Registration will begin at 6:30 a..m. at the swimming pool.
The course will take participants out Central Street to Millvale Road and around Silver Lake via the Charlie Cole Road, Silver Lake Road, School Street, Central Street and back along Broadway to the swimming pool.
Gerry Clapper of Bucksport set the course record of 50 minutes and 46 seconds back in 1986, and Cassie Hintz of Old Town set the women’s record of 59:06 in 2006.
Ellsworth’s Louie Luchini was the overall winner in last year’s race.
In addition to awards for the top two male and female finishers, homemade jam will be presented to age group winners after the race.
