ELLSWORTH — Jennifer Vose, a science teacher at Ellsworth High School and former junior high school science teacher in Blue Hill, will be the new principal at Hancock Grammar School.

Vose was appointed June 7 in a unanimous vote by the Regional School Unit 24 (RSU 24) Board.

“She has been a leader in many, many areas at Ellsworth High School,” said RSU 24 Interim Superintendent Wayne Enman. “The search committee was very impressed with her skills and her experience in school. We’re very excited.”

Vose is enrolled in a master’s in education leadership program at the University of Maine and said she has the credentials needed for conditional principal certification.

She said she taught students who graduated from Hancock Grammar School and has been impressed with their preparation.

“I know I’m going to a strong school with an experienced staff and community support,” Vose said. “I’m very excited.”

She has been teaching science at Ellsworth High School since 2004. Among the classes were biology, honors biology, advanced placement environmental science, anatomy and physiology, marine biology and chemistry.
