DEDHAM — Voters here will consider a $1,071,771 municipal budget and a $2,577,191 school budget at the annual Town Meeting Saturday.
The proposed municipal budget has increased by about $65,000 and the school budget is flat from last year, according to Michelle Begin, administrative assistant to the Dedham Selectmen.
Begin said one area of new spending in the municipal budget is salary for a part-time fire chief to replace Chief Frank Myatt, who volunteered for the post.
Article 30 on the 48-article warrant asks voters whether they want to approve an amendment to the town’s Fire Department Ordinance.
The amendment would allow the town to try to recoup the cost of salting and sanding private roads and driveways in order to make it possible for emergency personnel to respond to calls in the winter.
Some of the larger town budget items include the Budget Committee’s $260,000 recommendation for roads and bridges, winter road maintenance and street lights and signs, $91,000 for solid waste management and $150,210 for salaries for municipal officers and employees.
