ELLSWORTH — The host Ellsworth Eagle boys and girls each won five events in a pair of outdoor track meets on Friday at Del Luce Stadium.
In the girls’ team competition, it was the Hermon Hawks nipping the Central Red Devils of Corinth by a single point, 142-141, with Ellsworth third with 113, followed by Mattanawcook Academy 69, Bangor Christian 35, Calais 17, Narraguagus 9 and Sumner 7.
Freshman Aleta Looker led the Eagles with wins in the 800-meter run in 2:27.93 and the 1,600-meter run in 5:34.11.
Brianne Dunn took top honors for the Eagles in the 3,200-meter run in 12:42.18 and was second in the 800-meter run in 2:33.13.
Looker and Dunn combined with Jamie Ford and Hayley White to win the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:37.85.
Lauren Barkhouse also placed first in the pole vault with a height of 8 feet and was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:50.94 for the Eagles.
Also scoring for Ellsworth:
Ford was second in 6:10.20, White was third in 6:11.24 and Mallory Nightengale was fourth in 6:12.07 in the 1,600-meter run.
Taylor White was second in the long jump at 14 feet and 1.5 inches and third in the shot put with a throw of 26 feet, 9.5 inches.
Lainey Cohen was second in the pole vault at 6 feet, 6 inches.
Casey Gustafson was third in the 300-meter hurdles in 58.19 seconds and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 21.32 seconds.
Gustafson, Cohen and White teamed with Marina Gray for fourth in the four-by-100-meter relay in 1:00.92.
Brooke Dunn was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:52.51.
For Sumner’s Tigers, Moriah Estabrook was fifth in the 100-meter dash in 14.51 seconds, fifth in the 200-meter dash in 30.65 seconds and fifth in the 400-meter dash in 1:14.53.
Jacqueline Cormier was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 21.32 seconds.
Hermon took top team honors in the boys’ meet with 153 points, followed by Central 109, Mattanawcook Academy 89.5, Ellsworth 85.5, Bangor Christian 45, Sumner 32, Calais 31, Jonesport-Beals 10 and Narraguagus 4.
Freshman Dan Curts was a double winner for the Eagles, placing first in the 1,600-meter run in 4:46.15 and first in the 3,200-meter run in 10:50.39.
Chrisshawn Fluker won the 100-meter dash in 11.87 seconds.
Daniel Cox was first in the discus with a throw of 100 feet, 10 inches.
The foursome of Jake Jordan, Nate Rockwood, Matthew Fendl and Logan Leathers won the four-by-100-meter relay in 47.11 seconds.
Also for Ellsworth:
Jordan was second in 25.11 seconds and Maks Grover was fifth in 25.66 in the 200-meter dash.
Derek Hawes was runner-up in the 800-meter run in 2:11.29 and the 3,200-meter run in 11:17.49.
Neal Anderson was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:18.19.
Dakota Holmes was fifth in the 1,600-meter run in 4:58.76.
Leathers and Tyler Getchell tied for fifth in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, and Getchell was sixth in the 300-meter hurdles in 49.39 seconds and sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 20.31 seconds.
The foursome of Holmes, Fendl, Grover and Fluker placed fifth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:06.09.
For Sumner, John Sandiego won the 300-meter hurdles in 45.49 seconds and was third in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.26.
Jeremiah Estabrook was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.59 seconds, and combined with Sandiego, Ryan House and Tyler Bae for third in the four-by-100-meter relay in 51.52 seconds.
The Tiger foursome of Sandiego, Kurt Hand, Taylor Lee and Brandon Wade was fourth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:03.86.
