Trojan Girls, Boys Place Third

BAR HARBOR — Rebecca O’Donnell, Richard Helmke, Ryan Linde and Tom Reilly of the Mount Desert Island Trojans and Ben Plohr of the George Stevens Academy Eagles were winners in Friday’s seven-team outdoor track and field meet at MDI High School.

Both Trojan squads finished third, behind Brewer and Old Town, in the competition.

Girls’ team scores were Brewer 213.5, Old Town 184, MDI 95.5, Hermon 49, GSA 32, Calais 4 and Narraguagus 1.

For the Trojans:

O’Donnell took top honors in the discus with a throw of 81 feet, 8 inches, third in the javelin with a throw of 78 feet, 9 inches, and sixth in the shot put with a throw of 26 feet, 3.25 inches.

Chelsey Curran was runner-up in the pole vault at 7 feet, 6 inches, and sixth in the discus with a throw of 65 feet, 4 inches.

Caitie Smith was third in the 3,200-meter run in 14:20.30 and fourth in the pole vault at 7 feet.

Kailyn Russell was third in the pole vault at 7 feet and sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 6:03.18.

Maggie Painter was third in the 1,600-meter run in 5:54.93.

The foursome of Nora Hubbell, Evelyn Swan, Smith and Olivia Erickson was third in the four-by-800-meter relay in 13:22.42.

The foursome of Malia Demers, Augusta Blanford, Olivia Erickson and Russell was third in the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:39.45.

Demers was fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:59.29 and sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:42.08.

Isobel Erickson was fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.

Emily Lewis was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 29.65 seconds.

Hubbell was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:39.23.

Blanford was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles in 52.95 seconds.

Julia Lewis, Amanda MacLeod, Blanford and Emily Lewis combined for fourth in the four-by-100-meter relay in 58.05 seconds.

Julia Lewis was fifth in the triple jump at 28 feet, 9.5 inches, and fifth in the javelin with a throw of 74 feet, 3 inches.

Rebecca Planchart was fifth in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.

Olivia Erickson was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:39.31.

MacLeod was fifth in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.73 seconds.

For the GSA Eagles:

Liana Arquette was runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 82 feet, 10 inches; runner-up in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, 6 inches; and fourth in the discus with a throw of 71 feet, 8 inches.

Inji Hwang was fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 11:49.18.

Vika Grindle was fourth in the long jump at 14 feet, 2 inches.

Lucy Jakub was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 54.11 seconds.

In the boys’ meet, it was Old Town with 141.5 points, followed bya Brewer 140, MDI 93.5, Hermon 77, GSA 62, Sumner 46 and Calais 21.

For the Trojans:

Helmke was the winner in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:57.67 and runner-up in the 800-meter run in 2:05.80.

Lynde took top honors in the shot put with a throw of 38 feet, 10.5 inches, was runner-up in the discus with a throw of 108 feet, 9 inches and placed fifth in the javelin with a throw of 125 feet, 7 inches.

Reilly won the pole vault, clearing a height of 10 feet.

Chris Clemens was runner-up in the triple jump at 37 feet, 6 inches.

James Magnani was runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 11.93 seconds, fifth in the 400-meter dash in 55.46 seconds and fifth in the long jump at 18 feet, 1.25 inches.

Sam Swann was third in the 1,600-meter run in 5:10.33, fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:17.68 and tied for fifth in the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 inches.

Ezra Hallett was third in the discus with a throw of 93 feet, 1 inch, and fifth in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 8 inches.

The foursome of Reilly, Vladislov Lakvekhelieni, Matthew Jardine and Haydn Thomas was fifth in the four-by-100-meter relay in 51.47 seconds.

Jardine was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 51.45 seconds and sixth in the triple jump at 33 feet, 9 inches.

The foursome of Chris Kheel, Clemens, Aeden Higgins and Norman Haynes was sixth in the four-by-800-meter relay in 11:10.18.

The foursome of Helmke, Swann, Max Mason and Clemens was fifth in the four-by-400-meter relay in 3:56.46.

True Muzzy was sixth in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches.

For GSA:

Plohr won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.84 seconds and was runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 52.85 seconds.

The foursome of Kiyoshi Kuniyoshi, Abraham Ziner, Nick Doolittle and Nick Dillon was runner-up in the four-by-100-meter relay in 48.60 seconds.

The foursome of Sam Eley, Dillon, Harvard Bridges and Plohr was third in the four-by-400-meter relay in 3:55.12.

Everett Lindholm-Fiske was fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 19.67 seconds.

Kuniyoshi was fourth in the 200-meter dash in 25.36 seconds and fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.27 seconds

Dillon was sixth in the 100-meter dash in 12.52 seconds.

Doolittle was fourth in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches, fourth in the long jump at 18 feet, 1.25 inches, and sixth in the 200-meter dash in 25.77 seconds.

The foursome of Sam Stanke, Paul Ferreira, Alex Turanski and Beckton Brownlow was fifth in the four-by-800-meter relay in 10:30.15.

For the Sumner Tigers:

John Sandiego was runner-up in the 110-meter hurdles in 18.42 seconds and runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.41 seconds.

Ryan Grover was runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 132 feet, 1 inch.

The foursome of Taylor Lee, Brandon Wade, Merrill Johnson and Kurt Hand was third in the four-by-800-meter relay in 9:47.50.

The foursome of Ryan House, Jeremiah Estabrook, Grover and Sandiego was fourth in the four-by-100-meter relay in 50.98 seconds.

Estabrook was sixth in the 110-meter hurdles in 20.03 seconds.

Lee was sixth in the 1,600-meter run in 5:18.98.
