Looker and Curts Win State Track Titles

LEWISTON — A pair of Ellsworth Eagle freshmen are state indoor track champions.

Competing in the state Class B meet on Saturday at Bates College, Aleta Looker won the girls' 800-meter run with a time of 2:24.03 and Dan Curts won the boys' two-mile run in 10:25.80.

Several other county athletes also finished among the top performers in various events.

For Ellsworth, senior Brianne Dunn placed third in the girls' two-mile run in 12:16.21.

Looker and Dunn also combined with junior Krissy Luna and freshman Sanna Norwood for fifth place in the girls' four-by-800-meter relay in 10:39.87.

In the boys' meet, James Magnani of the Mount Desert Island Trojans placed seventh in the 55-meter dash in 6.93 seconds.

The Sumner Tiger foursome of John Sandiego, Kurt Hand, Brandon Wade and Taylor Lee placed sixth in the four-by-800-meter relay in 9:13.23.
