Trojans Down Eagles

BAR HARBOR — GSA went scoreless for nearly seven minutes of the second quarter and never quite recovered as the MDI Trojans rolled to a 44-36 win on Tuesday.

MDI ran off eight unanswered points, taking a 22-10 lead before GSA's Harvard Bridges scored a two-pointer and Nick Kane followed with a three-pointer.

Duncan Smith scored the period's final basket for the Trojans, who left the floor with a 24-15 halftime lead.

But with Nick Dillon scoring six points and Nick Doolittle contributing five, the Eagles cut the MDI lead to as little as two points in the third period.

It was Jayson Burke who put the Trojans back in command, scoring on a rebound putback to end the period and then netting MDI's first three baskets of the fourth quarter to push the lead out to 38-30.

Doolittle was the only Eagle to score in the fourth quarter, netting four foul shots and a pair of three-pointers.

That wasn't enough as Sam Joy and Nick Shaw each hit a pair of foul shots for the Trojans in the final 70 seconds.

Joy finished with 12 points and Burke and Dennis O'Neil scored 10 each for MDI.

Doolittle led all scorers with 19 points and Dillon added 10 for GSA.
