Bucksport Girls Finish as Runners-up

ORONO — Dan Curts won two events and Luc Victor one for the Ellsworth Eagle boys at Saturday’s Eastern Maine Indoor Track League competition at the University of Maine fieldhouse.

Curts raced to first places in the mile run in 4:40.69 and the two-mile run in 10:25.23, while Victor placed first in the 800-meter run in 2:14.06.

Also scoring for the Eagles was Derek Hawes, who finished fifth at 5:12.84 in the mile run.

The Brewer Witches won the boys’ seven-team “B” meet with 138 points. Ellsworth placed fifth with 32, the Bucksport Golden Bucks sixth with 24 and the Mount Desert Island Trojans seventh with 20.

Scoring for Bucksport:

Austin Sargent was third in the two-mile run in 12:12.97 and Seth Raymond was third in the triple jump at 25 feet, 3 inches.

Silas Fitzgerald was fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, 10 inches.

Eric Davis was fifth in the 400-meter run in 59.28 seconds and sixth in the 200-meter run in 27.21.

Also placing fifth were Robin Doyle in the 800-meter run at 2:30.16 and Tyler Manduca in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches.

Shawn Hanscom was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 33 feet, 9.5 inches.

For MDI’s Trojans, James Magnani placed second in the 55-meter dash in 7.06 seconds, Ezra Hallett was third in the shot put at 36 feet, l5 inch and Finn Jordan was third in the pole vault at 8 feet, 6 inches.

Brewer also took first in the girls’ “B” meet with 178 points with the Bucksport girls distant runners-up with 62, MDI fourth with 37 and Ellsworth seventh with 7.

Lisa Tapley led the Bucksport contingent, placing first in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches, and fourth in the long jump at 12 feet, 2.75 inches.

Avelon Langevin was second in the long jump at 12 feet, 5.5 inches, and fourth in the triple jump at 28 feet, 9.5 inches.

Jade Darragh was second in the two-mile run in 14:35.92, and Nelly Winship placed second in the 800-meter run in 2:32.18.

Molly Hunt finished third in the 200-meter run in 29.68 seconds and fourth in the 55-meter dash in 8.18.

Rachele Daley placed fifth in the 400-meter run in 1:09.20.

The Bucksport foursome of Winship, Daley, Katy Jones and Hunt was second in the four-by-220-yard relay in 2:03.38.

Rebecca O’Donnell won the shot put for MDI with a throw of 30 feet, 7 inches.

Also for the Trojans:

Summer Cast was second in the high jump at 4 feet, 4 inches, and fifth in the long jump at 11 feet, 4 inches.

Kailyn Russell placed fourth in the high jump at 4 feet, fourth in the pole vault at 7 feet and fourth in the 400-meter run in 1:08.37.

Caitie Smith was fifth in the pole vault at 6 feet, 6 inches, and sixth in the shot put with a throw of 23 feet, 2.5 inches.

Natalie Butler was sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in 11.48 seconds and sixth in the high jump at 3 feet, 8 inches.

For Ellsworth, Krissy Luna finished third in the mile run in 6:25.08 and Sanna Norwood was sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:47.49.

The Hampden Broncos won the boys’ seven-team “A” meet with 116 points and the Sumner Tigers placed fifth with 25.5.

The Tiger foursome of Kurt Hand, Josiah Estabrook, Brandon Wade and Taylor Lee won the four-by-880-yard relay in 9:13.36.

Jeremiah Estabrook was fourth in 9:20 seconds and Daniel Gerrish was fifth at 9.23 in the 55-meter hurdles.

Hand placed fourth in the mile run in 5:04.46.

Kyle Jordan was fifth in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches.

Placing sixth were John Sandiego at 57.16 seconds in the 400-meter run and Lee at 2:13.44 in the 800-meter run.

The foursome of Gerrish, Jeremiah Estabrook, Ryan House and Sandiego finished fifth in the four-by-220-yard relay in 1:47.14.
