Dunn Scores Win for Ellsworth

ORONO — Brianne Dunn of the Ellsworth Eagles was the lone winner among Hancock County athletes at Saturday’s Eastern Maine Indoor Track League competition at the University of Maine fieldhouse.

Dunn raced to victory in the mile run with a time of 5:44.86 and placed second in the two-mile run in 12:47.94 in the girls “B” meet.

The Old Town Coyotes took top honors with 154 points, followed by Hampden 91, Belfast 62, the Bucksport Golden Bucks 46, the Mount Desert Island Trojans 26, Ellsworth 22, and Mattanawcook and Foxcroft 4 each.

Also for the Eagles, Krissy Luna was fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:46.95.

For Bucksport, Nelly Winship was second in the mile run in 5:50.39 and second in the 800-meter run in 2:34.09.

Sina Fehr was third in the two-mile run in 13:47.59 and Lisa Tapley was third in the high jump at 4 feet, 2 inches.

Molly Hunt was fourth in the 55-meter dash in 8.10 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter run in 29.43.

Jade Darragh placed fourth in the two-mile run in 14:34.47 and Rachele Daley placed sixth in the 400-meter run in 1:10.75.

The foursome of Winship, Daley, Katy Jones and Hunt also finished second in the four-by-220-yard relay for Bucksport with a time of 2:03.77.

For the MDI Trojans, Kailyn Russell had a good day, placing second in the pole vault at 6 feet, 6 inches, sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:51.66 and sixth in the high jump at 4 feet, 2 inches.

Rebecca O’Donnell was second in the shot put with a distance of 29 feet, 3 inches.

Caitie Smith was third in the pole vault at 6 feet.

The Trojan foursome of Natalie Butler, Chelsy Dawicki, Smith and O’Donnell placed fifth in the four-by-220-yard relay in 2:18.95.

In boys’ competition, the Sumner Tigers placed sixth among seven teams in the “A” meet.

Taylor Lee was runner-up in the mile run with a time of 4:53.30.

Jeremiah Estabrook placed third in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.44 seconds and sixth in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 4.5 inches.

Kurt Hand was fourth in the mile run in 5:07.26.

Kyle Jordan was fifth in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches; Daniel Gerrish was fifth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.50 seconds; and John Sandiego was fifth in the 400-meter run in 57.73 seconds.

Brandon Wade was fifth in the two-mile run in 11:23.22 and sixth in the high jump at 5 feet.

The Sumner foursome of Lee, Zac Wells, Braden Wentworth and Hand was second in the four-by-880-yard relay in 9:44.55, and Gerrish, Jeremiah Estabrook, Josiah Estabrook and Sandiego combined for fifth in the four-by-220-yard relay in 1:47.71.

MDI was fifth with nine points and Bucksport and Ellsworth finished last with four points each on boys’ meet “B.”

For the Trojans, James Magnani was third in the 55-meter dasy in 6.95 seconds and fifth in the 200-meter run in 24.80 seconds, and Finn Jordan was sixth in the pole vault at 8 feet.

For Ellsworth, Luc Victor placed fifth in the mile run in 5:09.61 and Derek Hawes was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:17.58.

For Bucksport, Austin Sargent was fourth in the two-mile run in 12:27.61.
