BUCKSPORT — A run of 17 unanswered points that stretched across the first and second periods put the Bucksport Golden Bucks in control as they downed the Ellsworth Eagles 43-25 on Saturday.
Both teams got off to a slow start and Bucksport held a 5-4 lead late in the first quarter.
But Sadie Wight scored eight points, including two three-pointers, and Shelby Redman had 10 of her game-high 19 points in a nine-minute stretch that saw the Bucks take a 31-12 lead off the floor at halftime.
The Eagles played the Bucks on even terms through the second half but could not dig themselves out of the hole as they lost for the sixth time in seven outings.
Wight finished with 10 points for Bucksport, and Sam Maguire and Taylor White led Ellsworth with six points each.
