Trojans Pummel Eagles

HOWLAND — Competing at Penobscot Valley on Saturday, the Mount Desert Island Trojans scored a 60-18 win over the George Stevens Academy Eagles.

On the mat for MDI, Elijah O’Connor pinned Jamie Moore at 140 pounds, Thomas Bulley pinned Julius Tiesler at 160 pounds and Colton Strout pinned Tim Allen at 215 pounds.

For GSA, Jordan Lord pinned Josh Silva at 125 pounds.

The Trojans bested the host Howlers 48-24 with all but one win coming by forfeit.

On the mat, Jonathan Gaspie pinned Dylan LeClair at 130 pounds.

The Trojans lost a close 39-34 battle to Fort Kent with on-the-mat wins by Jonathan Sargent with a major decision over Megan Pelletier at 112 pounds, Silva with a pin of Cassidy Spencer at 125 pounds, O’Connor with a pin of Nicholas Levesque at 140 pounds and Elias Burne with a pin of Jeremy Theriault at 189 pounds.

In a 51-24 loss to Hermon, MDI’s Aaron Boucher pinned Josh Devou at 135 pounds and O’Connor pinned Sara Bishop at 145 pounds.

GSA eked out a 24-24 tie with Penobscot Valley with Lord pinning Dylan LeClair at 130 pounds, and fell to the Hermon Hawks 60-12 with both wins by forfeit.
