ELLSWORTH — Ellsworth's win over MDI on Monday wrapped up the #1 seed in Class B for the Eagles. The 7-6-1 Trojans appear to have advanced to post-season play despite the loss to Ellsworth.
MDI was ranked eighth in Eastern Maine Class B in the all-but-final standings on Wednesday morning and will likely host the ninth-ranked Hermon Hawks in a preliminary playoff on Saturday.
Ellsworth would host the winner of that game in Class B quarterfinal action tentatively scheduled on Wednesday.
No other Hancock County boys’ team is in the running for post-season play.
In Class B, the 3-11-0 Bucksport Golden Bucks finished last despite Tuesday’s 1-0 win over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx.
In Class C, the 6-5-3 Sumner Tigers and the 6-7-1 George Stevens Academy Eagles and in Class D, the 3-9-1 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners and 0-9 Acadia Christian Seahawks all failed to qualify.
