GSA Fourth, EHS Ninth at States

VASSALBORO — After a stellar undefeated regular season and second place in the Penobscot Valley Conference, the Ellsworth Eagles ended with a disappointing ninth place finish among 12 teams in the State Class B golf championships on Saturday at the Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro.

Falmouth won the Class B title with a score of 315 with York placing second at 327.

For the Eagles, Greg Martin carded an 80, Josh Conary a 92, Brandan Albee a 93 and Tyler Beardsley a 102 for a team score of 367.

The George Stevens Academy Eagles, the PVC Class C runners-up, turned in a fourth place finish in the state Class C tournament on Saturday.

Houlton won the Class C title with a score of 327 and St. Dominic was second at 328.

For GSA, Alex Heilner shot an 80, David Bertrand a 93, Jasper Adam a 96 and Nick Dillon a 104 for a team score of 373.
