BRANDON, Vt. — Husson University recorded four top-six finishes en route to their fifth consecutive North Atlantic Conference golf championship Sunday afternoon at Neshobe Golf Course in Brandon, Vt. with a total team score of 585 (+9).

After an opening round 75, Husson's Matthew Loubier rebounded with a three under par 69 Sunday to capture second place overall (142) followed by round-one leader Chris Hamel in second (143), Kevin Byrne in fifth (147) and Michael Hersey (153) in sixth.

Luke Neilson (Saco) came in 15th place with a two round total of 169. Cale Knox (Sidney, ME) came in 17th with a score of 178, Keenan Eaton (Mapleton) shot a two day toatl of 186, while Marcus Fenton (Scarborough) had a score of 188.

Castleton State College's William Banfield captured medalist honors with a two-round total of 141 (72-69), leading the Spartans to a second place finish (618).

The University of Maine Farmington finished third in the six-team field just two strokes behind Castleton with a 620 followed by Maine Maritime Academy (721), Johnson State College (724) and Green Mountain College (813).

In perhaps the highlight of the tournament, Husson's Kevin Byrne carded a hole-in-one on the par four 267 yard 16th hole which yielded only nine birdies on the weekend.
