MOUNT DESERT — Students from College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor are set to install a wind turbine at Beech Hill Farm on May 11.
The project began for adjunct lecturer Anna Demeo and nine students at the opening of spring term, inspired by the installation of a wind meter on campus.
The class is a new offering for the college, said Ms. Demeo. Once the turbine is installed, the class plans to have a ribbon-cutting and a community presentation, she said. “It’s very exciting.”
The class was designed to teach students how to implement the project from concept to completion, she said. “Students go back to the community knowing how to project-lead.”
