CRANBERRY ISLES — A multi-agency effort over the weekend led to the eradication of marijuana plants on Islesford.
The Maine Warden Service and U.S. Customs and Border Protection assisted the U. S. Coast Guard in the seizure, according to a warden service spokesman.
Lt. Nick Barrow of the Coast Guard said he is unable to provide details of the incident because the agency has a policy of not discussing ongoing law enforcement investigations. He did say drug interdiction is, by law, one of the missions of the Coast Guard and that the agency often carries out enforcement actions on land as well as on the water.
“What we have is manpower and resources,” he said.
