Acadians Split Doubleheader with Calais

CALAIS — The Trenton Acadians split a doubleheader with Calais on Thursday, winning the first game 6-5 and losing the nightcap 5-4.

In the opener, the Acadians rallied from a 3-2 deficit with four runs in the sixth inning as Tom Crowe singled to drive in what proved to be the winning run.

Calais scored single runs in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings, but the Acadian relief pitcher John Carlin held on to claim the win.

Jordan Carter had a two-run double, Seth Cote had an RBI single and Devin Young singled twice for the Acadians.

Tim Barnes drove in a run with a single and a double, Bryce Colbeth singled twice with two RBI and Dylan Ramsdell had a run-scoring single for Calais.

In the second game, the Acadians rallied to tie the game in the seventh inning, but Calais scored in the bottom of the inning to claim the 6-5 win.

Adam Geel’s run-scoring single, his second of the game, proved to be the difference for Calais.

Ryan Schoppee also had an RBI single.

Lefthander Toby Woods pitched a three-hitter for Calais and Dennis O’Neil allowed seven hits in his complete game effort for Trenton.
