BUCKSPORT — In quarterfinal action on Thursday, the Bucksport jumped on Mattanawcook and pitcher Lance Bernier for three runs in the first inning and never trailed as the Golden Bucks went on to win 11-3.

Bucksport pounded Bernier, who went the distance on the mound, for 14 hits and got a solid complete game pitching effort from righthander Evan Eldridge, who scattered seven hits in his complete game win.

Eldridge also made major contributions at the plate, driving in three runs for the Bucks with a double and two singles.

Tyler French and Cody Farrell also had three singles and scored three runs each, and Tim Nason drove in a run with a single.

Three players accounted for all seven Mattanawcook hits with two singles each by Bernier, Tyler Tash and Nick L’Italien and another by Donnie Russell.
