BUCKSPORT — Several Hancock County athletes won titles at the Penobscot Valley Conference Freshman Championships held Wednesday, at Bucksport High School.
In the girls’ meet:
Bailey Burr of the MDI Trojans placed first in the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, 9.75 inches, and first in the triple jump with a distance of 31 feet, 2.75 inches.
Burr also combined with Rachael McMinimy, Erin Connery and Emily Lewis for second in the four-by-400-meter relay in 5:00.10.
Taylor White of the Ellsworth Eagles won the shot put with a throw of 25 feet, 9.25 inches, placed second in the discus with a throw of 59 feet, 2 inches, and was third in the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, .25 inch.
Brooke Dunn of the Eagles was runner-up in the 1,600-meter run in 6:40.70 and sixth in the 800-meter run in 3:00.09.
Also finishing as runners-up were Lucy Jakub of the George Stevens Academy Eagles in the 800-meter run in 2:42.35, and Rachel Chen of the Bucksport Golden Bucks in the long jump with a distance of 13 feet, 8 inches.

100-meter hurdles – Yina Sun, MDI, third in 18.65 seconds; Julia Lewis, MDI, fifth in 19.68.
300-meter hurdles – Lewis, MDI, fourth in 57.81 seconds; Casey Gustafson, Ellsworth, fifth in 1:04.67.
800-meter run – Heather Brown, Ellsworth, fourth in 2:51.01; McMinimy, MDI, fifth in 3:00.3.
High jump – Lisa Tapley, Bucksport, fourth at 4 feet, 2 inches.
Long jump – Avery Sanborn, Bucksport, fifth at 12 feet, 1 inch.
Pole vault – Sierra Rich, Bucksport, fourth at 6 feet, 6 inches.
In the boys’ meet:
Derek Hawes of Ellsworth won top honors in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 11:18.81 and was second in the 1,600-meter run in 4:58.14.
Chris Clemens of MDI placed first in the 800-meter run in 1:16.68, second in the triple jump at 34 feet, 11.5 inches, and fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.48 seconds.
Tyler Farnsworth of MDI was first in the triple jump at 35 feet, 8.75 inches and third in the 200-meter dash in 26.53 seconds.
The Class C State Track and Field Championships, originally scheduled for Saturday, were postponed by rain and were scheduled to be held today at Foxcroft Academy in Dover-Foxcroft.

Four-by-100-meter relay – MDI (Tom Reilly, Elijah O’Connor, Clemens and Farnsworth), third in 49.29 seconds.
400-meter dash – Eric Davis, Bucksport, fourth in 1:03.07; Paul Ferreira, GSA, fifth in 1:03.32; Alex Bourgon, Bucksport, sixth in 1:05.43.
300-meter hurdles – Maks Grover, Ellsworth, fifth in 48.81 seconds.
800-meter run – Holmes, Ellsworth, fifth in 2:21.96.
3,200-meter run – Brandon Wade, Sumner, fifth in 12:02.84.
Four-by-400-meter relay – Ellsworth (Grover, Matt Fendl, Holmes and Hawes), fourth in 4:18.12; MDI (Chris Heel, O’Connor, Max Mason and Adam Davis), fifth in 4:25.81.
Triple jump – Joe McNamara, Bucksport, third at 28 feet, 6 inches.
Javelin – Ezra Hallett, MDI, fifth at 97 feet, 3 inches.
