ELLSWORTH — Under an agreement approved by the board of Regional School Unit 24, the Ellsworth Football League will use the Lamoine athletic fields for practices and games from mid-June to Nov. 1 of this year.
According to RSU 24 Superintendent Bill Webster, both organizations will evaluate the results of the season before making any future commitments.
Stipulations of the agreement are as follows:
The league will maintain the field using the services of Jack Scott of Trenton. This will include seeding, thatching, aerating, fertilizing and other general maintenance. The league also will provide additional mowing services as needed to supplement those already under contract with RSU 24.
The league will modify goals and line and prepare the fields to support soccer and football.
All field use will be coordinated with the Lamoine Conslidated School and will not interfere with normal school use for physical education of the fall sports programs. League field use will include practices from mid-June to Aug. 1 and practices and games between Aug. 16 and Nov.1.
The game schedule includes Saturdays for grades 3-6 teams, Tuesday early evenings for the grades 7-8 team and Monday early evenings for the high school level team.
The league will maintain its player Code of Conduct, which promotes positive health, social and academic behavior.
The upcoming season will be the second for the newly formed league, and the first for high school level football.
