BANGOR — Competing in a 10-team meet at Bangor’s Cameron Stadium on Friday, the Ellsworth Eagle boys placed a distant third behind Bangor and Brewer.

The host Rams won the meet with 179.5 points, followed by Brewer with 160.5 and Ellsworth with 63.

For the Eagles, senior Ben Chapman bested Bangor’s Sam Nisbett by nearly four seconds to win the 1,600-meter run in 4:41.36.

Sophomore Steve Kirby also turned in a strong performance in winning the 3,200-meter run in 11:15.98, besting runner-up Ben Hafford of Brewer by nearly 11 seconds.

In the girls’ meet, the Eagles were fifth with 38 points.

The foursome of Brianne Dunn, Darien Lewis, Hayley White and Rosie Vachon were first in the four-by-800-meter relay in 11:07.23.
