Hinckley Leaps to Victory

ORONO — The Mount Desert Island Trojan boys were third with 86 points and the Sumner Tigers were ninth with 21 points in an 11-team meet on Saturday.

For the Trojans, Nat Hinckley picked up a pair of wins with a long jump of 18 feet, 8.5 inches and a triple jump of 38 feet, 4.5 inches.

MDI’s Taylor Brown won the discus with a throw of 106 feet, 2 inches.The Trojan girls placed fourth in their side of the competition with 72 points and Sumner was last with just a single point.

MDI’s Malia Demers won the 800-meter run in 2:35.43, and the foursome of Demers, Mackenzie Curtis, Chelsea Curran and Kailyn Russell won the four-by-400-meter relay in 4:34.36.
