ELLSWORTH — For one quarter on Thursday, the Ellsworth Eagles were more than a match for the MDI Trojans, leading 12-8 at one point.

Mackenzie Curtis scored all of her 11 points in the first half as the Trojans built a comfortable 31-19 lead by the halftime break.
That lead was enlarged to as many as 22 points before Ellsworth closed the gap in the late going.
With Trojan reserves playing much of the fourth period, Ellsworth outscored MDI 17-9 I in the final stanza, but it was too little, too late.
Megan Phelps scored 14 points, Jessica Swanson had 13 and Sara Carroll contributed 10 for the Trojans.
Sarah Stanley had eight points and Paige Martin and Kalyn Jackson added seven each for the Eagles, who closed out their season at 2-16.
