ELLSWORTH — The 15-2 Mount Desert Island Trojans sit solidly atop the girls’ Eastern Maine Class B standings.
The 10-6 George Stevens Academy Eagles are holding on to ninth place in the Class C ranks, but a win over number two Central tonight or number five Washington Academy Friday would clinch the Eagles’ hopes for at least a preliminary playoff.
In Class D, the 10-6 Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners are ranked seventh with games still remaining tomorrow night against Jonesport-Beals and Friday against number five Bangor Christian.
For four other Hancock County teams — the 2-15 Ellsworth Eagles and 2-15 Bucksport Golden Bucks in Class B, the 0-17 Sumner Tigers in Class C and the 0-16 Acadia Christian Seahawks in Class D — the season will come to an end this week.
