Eagles Come From Behind to Beat Lynx

Written by  Hugh Bowden Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 2:50 pm

LINCOLN — The Eagles connected on only 30 percent of their shots from the floor on Thursday, but that was enough to give them a 57-50 win over the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx.

Ellsworth trailed by single points after the first two periods and by four going into the last quarter.

“We finally hit some key hoops including a three-pointer from tom Sawyer, who ended up with five points in the fourth,” said Ellsworth coach Peter Austin.

Senior guard Brad Folmer was sidelined with foul trouble for most of the first half, but scored nine points in the fourth quarter, seven of them from the foul line, to finish with 12 for the game.

Andrew Austin had a strong all-around performance with 11 points, 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Ryan Petros led the Eagles with 14 points, eight of them in the first period.
