Trojans Finish Second to Red Riots

ORONO — In eight-team competition on Saturday, the MDI Trojan boys placed second with 85 points, just eight behind the winning Orono Red Riots, with the Sumner Tigers fourth with 48 points.

MDI’s Hinckley took top honors in the long jump with a distance of 19 feet, 4 inches, and the triple jump with a distance of 37 feet, 11.25 inches.

The Sumner foursome of John Sandiego, Brandon Wade, Taylor Lee and Kurt Hand won the four-by-880-yard relay in 10:24.73.

MDI’s Ben Cummings also won the pole vault with a height of 13 feet, 2 inches.

55-meter hurdles: Jordan Crosby, Sumner, second, 11.02 seconds; Jeremiah Estabrook, Sumner, fourth, 11:49; Wade, fifth, 11.74.

55-meter dash: James Magnani, MDI, second, 7.09 seconds; Hinckley, fourth, 7.17; Caleb Roebuck, MDI, fifth, 7.38; Mike Crowley, Sumner, sixth, 7.41.

Mile run: Hand, fourth, 5:21.11; Josh Wheeler, MDI, fifth, 5:38.32; Wade, sixth, 5:40.25.

400-meter run: Sandiego, third, 59.81 seconds; Eric McQuinn, MDI, fourth, 1:00.26.

800-meter run: Chris Light, Sumner, sixth, 2:42.05.

200-meter run: Magnani, second, 24.97 seconds; Roebuck, fifth, 26.12.

Four-by-220-yard relay: MDI (Roebuck, Magnani, Carl Ferm and McQuinn), second, 1:43.98; Sumner (Sandiego, Estabrook, Kwan Yat Lo and Light), third, 1:51.79.

Shot put: Taylor Brown, MDI, fourth, 37 feet, 11.25 inches.

Long jump: Ferm, third, 16 feet, 1.5 inches; Estabrook, sixth, 14 feet, 10 inches.

High jump: Taylor Lee, Sumner, fourth, 4 feet, 6 inches.

Pole vault: Finn Jordan, MDI, second, 8 feet, 6 inches.

In the girls’ meet, John Bapst was the winner with 115 points. MDI placed fifth with 15 points and Sumner was seventh with 9.

200-meter run: Moriah Estabrook, Sumner, fourth, 31.66 seconds.

Shot put: Rebecca O’Donnell, MDI, second, 23 feet, 4.25 inches; Kayleen Bishko, Sumner, sixth, 17 feet, 7 inches.

Pole vault: Caitie Smith, MDI, second, 5 feet.
