VASSALBORO — Sam Grindle of the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners had the best showing among Hancock County golfers in Maine’s high school individual championships, placing third in the Class C competition.
In play at the Natanis Golf Course on Saturday, Grindle finished at 75, four strokes behind champion Tim Millett of North Yarmouth Academy.
Also in Class C, Storme Macomber of the George Stevens Academy Eagles came in at 86 and Connor Morey of the Mariners finished with a round of 91.
In Class B competition, Aaron Bailey of York was the champion with a round of 75.
Greg Martin of the Ellsworth Eagles was five strokes back at 80, followed by teammate Nick Richie at 93, James Potter of Bucksport at 94, Brandan Albee of Ellsworth at 95 and Ryan Bailey of Bucksport at 98.
