SEARSPORT — At Saturday’s Searsport Invitational, Bucksport’s Nelly Winship finished as runner-up in the girls’ race with a time of 20 minutes even, nearly a minute behind winner Faith Mackey of Searsport, who finished in 19:02.
Bucksport’s Avalon Langevin also placed sixth in 21:12 and Avery Sanborn was 26th in 25:10.
The George Stevens Academy Eagle girls placed second with 36 points, just four points behind the winning Orono Red Riots.
For GSA, Lakota Bowen led the way, placing 10th in 21:49; Nicole Bakeman was 11th in 22:18; Mindy Carter was 14th in 22:44, Ramsay Williamson was 16th in 23:05; tierney Hally was 18th in 23:14; Lucy Jakub was 19th in 23:19; Grace Bugbee was 33rd in 27:10; and Meredith Olivan was 41st in 30:08.
For the Sumner Tigers, Helen Conway placed 27th in 25:12 and Kilee Storey was 47th in 41:19.
In the boys’ race, Bucksport’s Jason Swazey had the best finish among local runners, placing fifth in 16:31, and Sumner’s Brandon Wade was 12th in 17:31.
Lee Academy won the team competition with 46 points, followed by Orono 67, Mattanawcook Academy 92, GSA 108, Sumner 125, Washington Academy 126, and Bucksport and Machias 162.
For GSA, Quinn Mitchell was 20th in 18:06, Gavin Rogers was 26th in 19:09, Jacob Reiley was 36th in 19:42, Jacob Wight was 46th in 20:39, Josh Bowden was 47th in 20:46, Everett Fiske was 48th in 21:03 and Matt Ahern was 51st in 21:31.
For Sumner,Taylor Lee was 15th in 17:40, Kyle Jordan was 41st in 19:59, Brant Harden was 50th in 21:29, John San Diego was 53rd in 21:34, Chris Light was 57th in 22:11, Eric Archer was 59th in 22:38 and Aaron Leavitt was 74th in 29:49.
For Bucksport, Kevin Greene was 33rd in 19:38, Alex Bourgon was 58th in 22:17, Sam Prichford was 63rd in 23:29 and Tyler Manduca was 68th in 25:43.
