3 Ellsworth Wrestlers Are State Runners-up

BELFAST — Three Ellsworth wrestlers finished as runners-up Saturday at the annual Pine Tree Wrestling League state championships at the Troy Howard Middle School.

A team from Dirigo took top honors in the 22-team middle school level competition with 132.5 points and Mountain Valley was second with 116.5 points.

Rounding out the top five were Fryeburg with 116, Troy Howard with 100 and Ellsworth with 77.

For Ellsworth, runners-up were Robert Banner the 124-pound weight class, Robert Hall in the 190-pound class and Michael Garland in the 240-pound class.

Also placing for Ellsworth were Sam Lounder, who was third in the 145-pound class and Dustin Smelley, who was fourth in the 110-pound class.
