WINTER HARBOR — Schoodic Arts for All is initiating a free outdoor concert series this summer on the lawn of the Channing Chapel Library.
The performers will be area musicians playing music such as steel band and classic rock ‘n’ roll, among other genres, according to Breanna Pinkham, who is in charge of publicity for the organization and conceived of the idea.
The concerts will be the third Sunday of the month — May 17, June 21, July 19, Aug. 16,and Sept. 20, at 5 p.m.
The Schoodic Steel Band will lead off the series and Pinkham is in the process of scheduling the Cherryfield Town Band.
Father and son guitarists Jay and Bjørn Peterson will be the performers at the Father’s Day concert June 21.
Proceeds from the sale of food and refreshments will be used to help fund the following summer’s outdoor concerts.
Seed money for the program was donated by an individual who heard about the idea last summer at the annual meeting of Schoodic Arts for All.
Pinkham welcomes help from volunteers, financial assistance, donations of food that could be sold at the concerts, and the participation of local musicians.
