BLUE HILL — Workers erecting the livestock tents at the Blue Hill Fair Tuesday drove the support stakes a little deeper into the ground than usual, a precaution against potentially high winds associated with Hurricane Earl.

SWANS ISLAND — U.S. Sen. Susan Collins made her first-ever visit here Aug. 20 for the groundbreaking for the town’s new library. The facility will be funded in part by a $398,000 federal grant made possible by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act that Congress passed last year.
