ACADIA NATIONAL PARK — Some sections of Acadia National Park will be closed, effective today (Friday, Sept. 3) as Hurricane Earl heads north. Forecasters are predicting tropical storm conditions by late Friday, into Saturday morning with winds in excess of 39 miles per hour and high surf conditions.

Church Skips Details in Suspension of Minister

MOUNT DESERT — Members of the United Church of Christ of Northeast Harbor and Seal Harbor have in the past few days received letters from church leaders and suspended Rev. William “Mac” Bigelow concerning Rev. Bigelow’s ban from the ministry. But neither letter shed any new light on the reasons for his suspension.

 
Suspected Fire Turns Out To Be Smoky Furnace

BLUE HILL — A fire reported at a Pleasant Street residence in Blue Hill Monday evening turned out to be a smoky furnace, according to Blue Hill Fire Chief Denny Robertson.
