BUCKSPORT — Waterfront dining is the main attraction at the new Harbor View Grille.

Seats on the deck go fast, said Manager Michelle Beckwith.

“It’s a hot commodity,” she said.

Leadbetter’s Corp. of Bangor owns the restaurant, which opened July 21. Beckwith and fellow manager Dan Smith oversee a staff of 24 employees.

Beckwith said this is Leadbetter’s first full-service restaurant and the first few weeks have had a learning curve.

Listening to what clients want has been key.

“Our regulars who are going to be here all year long are saying we want this, this and this,” Beckwith explained. “We’re always looking for that feedback.”

Staff are already developing a new menu to accommodate requests. Steak and potatoes will soon be offered.

The current menu includes all the breakfast basics, salads, burgers, sandwiches, wraps and lots of seafood, including lobster, clam and crab rolls. Baked stuffed haddock and “lazy” stuffed lobster are among the most popular entrees.

There are also desserts, including three kinds of pie, cheesecake and ice cream.

“We’re constantly adding things,” Beckwith said.
