GROVELAND, MASS.—Arthur Colby Candage, 74, of Groveland, Mass., passed away Aug. 5, 2010. Arthur was born in East Blue Hill, eldest son of the late Colby A. and Isabelle (Conary) Candage.

He was a graduate of George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill – Class of 1954. Upon graduation from George Stevens, Mr. Candage was accepted into General Electric’s apprentice program in Lynn, Mass., and worked for the company until his retirement in 1991. Arthur served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. While working full time and raising his family, Arthur returned to school to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University and graduated magna cum laude. Of his many joys in life his family always came first. He enjoyed doting on his grandchildren, shopping and traveling with his wife.

In addition to his beloved wife, Betty (Elizabeth J. (McFadden) Candage), with whom he shared 48 years of marriage and fun, Mr. Candage leaves behind a loving family; his son, Gregory and wife, Susan (Bobek) Candage, of Bradford, Mass.; his daughter, Allison Candage of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two delightful grandchildren, Greer and Colby Candage; two brothers, Bruce Candage of Blue Hill and Darryl and his wife, Muriel (Allen) Candage, of Blue Hill; a brother-in-law, Gene and his wife, Jo (Sharp) McFadden, of Glen Haven, Colo. Mr. Candage also leaves behind several nephews and nieces and many loyal friends. Mr. Candage was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Rena (Bridges) Candage, of Blue Hill. Arthur will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Arthur’s family would like to thank the staffs of Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass., and Merrimac Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, Mass., for their exceptional care and support.

Calling hours will be 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2010, at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St., Haverhill, Mass., followed by a memorial service at 6:30 at the funeral home. Interment will take place 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, after a graveside service at Mountain View Cemetery, Blue Hill. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Arc Autism Support Center, 6 Southside Road, Danvers, MA 01923 or a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are by the H.L.
