STONINGTON — The vibrant community theater scene on Deer Isle will be enhanced this winter by a professional Actors Equity production of “Brilliant Traces” at the Stonington Opera House Feb. 4-7.

Produced by Opera House Arts, Cindy Lou Johnson’s “Brilliant Traces” is a “dark romantic comedy set in Alaska, in the middle of nowhere.”

The two-character play begins when Rosannah, “fleeing from her future in her wedding gown, staggers into the isolated Alaska cabin of Henry, a self-defined hermit fleeing from his past.”

The howling storm outside and raging emotions inside the cabin add new meaning to “cabin fever.”

“This play is about waking up,” said Judith Jerome, OHA’s artistic director. “It’s about awakening to pain, and to joy, and living with them — and it is very funny.”
